Scenographer
Born in Brno. Studied applied art at the School of Art and Design in Brno under professor Petr Vesely between 1999 - 2003. In 2003 participated at the exhibition of the School of Art and Design – youth cycle in the Youth Gallery in Brno.
Graduated in 2009 in scenography at the Theatre Faculty of Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno under professor Jan Zavarsky. During the years 2004-2005 took part in the project Fashion Show MEZIPATRA. For this occasion she made a short film Tělo (Body), which was broadcast on Czech Television.
In Mozart jubilee year 2006 collaborated with the director Jana Janekova on the production of Don Giovanni for the summer festival in Znojmo. In the cellar stage of the Goose on a String Theatre designed art solutions for the theatre project for deaf people Najde se Nemo (Finding Nemo) and the project Groteska (Grotesque) on the occasion of the renovation of Freedom Square.
Frequently collaborates with the studio Dům (House) of Eva Talska, namely with the director Tomas Pavcik – Krvák (Thriller) at the Goose on a String Theatre, Cabaret Rot Noir in Hadivadlo and the Calendar of Saints for Museum Night at Petrov in 2007.
Designed the scene and costumes for the director Zbynek Brabec for his production of Puccini’s La Boheme and Weber’s The Freeshooter in the North Bohemian Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Usti nad Labem.
She is the author of costumes for the Madamme Butterfly production at the National Theatre Brno and of Massenet’s opera Werther at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, where she collaborated with the director Jiří Nekvasil.
As an assistant designer has worked with Daniel Dvořák on a number of his productions, i.e. on Shakespeare‘s Anthony and Cleopatra and Verdi‘s Mackbeth for the National Theatre Brno, on Eugen Albert’s opera The Lowlands at the theatre Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Berg’s Lulu at Munster City Theater, Cajkovskij’s Eugen Onegin at the Theatre Regensburg and Don Giovanni at the Opera Theatre of Lucca in Italy.
In Mahen’s drama she first introduced herself as a costume designer in Rostand‘s Cyrano of Bergerac, but her work can be also seen in Plachy’s productions Black Madonna of Brno and Simon’s Plaza Suite.
She created creative solutions for the director Linda Keprt for the production of Jenufa, which was performed at the Janacek festival in autumn 2008 at Brno Municipal Theatre. Their joint collaboration also includes Friml’s Rose Marie at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, Cimarosa‘s Secret Marriage at the Barrier-free theatre Barka and last but not least the award winning production at the festival Opera 2014 and Opera 2015 of Don Quichotte and Foerstr‘s Eva at the F.X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec.
